Update from Riviera Maya - MJ & Dennis

March 10, 2014

Riviera Maya is definitely changing. The beaches are being improved, the beach club is under construction, the Grand Bliss is a great place to stay and the Cirque du Soleil entertainment area is taking shape.

MJ and Dennis just returned from Riviera Maya and have this to say:
We spent two weeks in the Riviera Maya during February and March and really enjoyed ourselves. We were unable to get into the Grand Luxxe, so we booked one week in the Grand Bliss and one week in the Grand Mayan both in one bedroom suites.

The Grand Bliss is new and a beautiful property with excellent staff. The shuttles were available whenever we needed them with the longest wait being about 5-7 minutes. All of the drivers were wonderful and extremely helpful. We would not hesitate to stay in a Grand Bliss property again.

Once the pools are built within the confines of the Grand Bliss area, it will become much like the Grand Luxxe in that it will become its own resort area. The Grand Bliss – Grand Luxxe Beach Club will be a welcome addition as it will have several pools and a new restaurant area that will be part indoor and part outdoor. Once we figured out the walkways and some of the short cuts from the Grand Bliss to other areas around the resort, we found we were able to walk to most places including the Grand Luxxe Pool. Yes, it is a fairly long walk but we decided that would be our daily exercise and continued this when we moved to the Grand Mayan Building #5 in week two of our stay.

Our only comment on the Grand Mayan suite is that they do require some updating of the linens and furniture, other than that, they are still a very comfortable place to stay.

We toured Building 3 of the Grand Luxxe, which is a Spa Building and were very impressed. The 3 bedroom unit is luxurious and very spacious and can accommodate a family of 8 - 10 very easily, especially since the third bedroom has two queen beds instead of a king. The master bedroom has hardwood and there is a spa room for massages and any other spa treatments you may wish to have. There is a full deck that wraps around to the third bedroom with all the usual amenities, including the heated plunge pool. The kitchen has a full size fridge with a freezer and the microwave and toaster oven are tucked away in a cupboard to keep things off the counter. There are more utensils, pots, pans, dishes, etc. for those of you who wish to cook. There is also 2 bedroom units available, but unfortunately we were not able to view one. We are really looking forward to staying in the Spa Building next year.

We did attend an Owners Update, and they are now being held on the 3rd floor above Tramonto. There is much to tell so, we will submit another update soon.
Thank you from all of us MJ and Dennis. We are looking forward to seeing your photos and hearing more.
